The sawdust used to make our firebricks is a natural byproduct of a local sawmill on Vancouver Island. We take the kiln-dried sawdust and use a briquetting machine to compress it under very high pressure to bind the wood fibres together. The result is a 100% natural firebrick that contains no glues, binders, or harsh chemicals to keep the shape. This surprises people sometimes because it’s widely assumed that a man-made product will contain additives and chemicals. Although some cheaper briquettes might contain glues and paints, our products are guaranteed to be additive-free. You can purchase firebricks either on a 1000kg pallet (95 bundles of 12 plastic-wrapped briquettes) or bulk bags of roughly 900 kg (about 1000 briquettes per bag). The mill processes local raw fir logs that have never crossed the ocean, resulting in extremely low salt content in the wood fibres.
